Description
A real pocket compass, made the way they were made when navigation off a map mattered. Solid milled brass body, jeweled bearing needle damped against a glass face, magnetic north accurate to within two degrees. The hinged lid opens with a thumb and locks closed with a small brass detent so it doesn’t open in a pocket.
On the back face of the compass body, our circular maker’s seal is etched and gold-fill polished — visible whenever the compass is set down face-up on a desk or table. The compass attaches to a 1″ saddle-leather fob and a 1.25″ solid brass split-ring, sized to clip cleanly to a belt loop, a key ring, or the D-ring on a daypack.
Specs: 1.75″ diameter × 0.5″ thick, solid cast brass body, glass viewport, jeweled bearing needle, saddle-leather fob, brass split-ring. Compass mechanism manufactured in Massachusetts; assembled in Colorado.
Care: Wipe the brass with a dry cloth. For a bright finish use Wright’s Brass Polish; or leave it to age into a warm patina. The compass mechanism is sealed — don’t disassemble. Avoid storing near strong magnets, which can demagnetize the needle over years.
