Description
A watch cap in the original sense — natural-color undyed merino wool, thick cable knit, folded once at the brim. The wool comes from a small Wyoming flock and is spun into yarn at a heritage mill in upstate New York; the knitting happens in our Boulder workshop on a vintage Bentley flat-bed knitter.
Because the wool is undyed, no two caps are identical — natural variation in fiber color produces subtle differences in shade and texture. That’s intentional. A small saddle-leather patch sewn to the front-center face carries the gold-foiled Field & Cairn cairn seal.
Sizing: One size fits most adults; designed with a slightly relaxed crown so it stays put without binding the head. Folded brim gives an extra layer over the ears for cold-weather days.
Specs: 100% merino wool (worsted-spun), natural undyed cream-charcoal heather, hand-knit cable pattern, saddle-leather brand patch, undyed cotton lining strip around the inner brim.
Care: Hand-wash in cool water with wool detergent; lay flat to dry away from direct heat. The wool will felt slightly with washing — this is desired and improves wind resistance over time.
